Man, why is my monitor blacking out for like 2-3 seconds intermittently ... every few minutes.

What in the world could be causing that? 

I guess I can start with making sure the cables are secure ... they should be, I haven't touched anything and it's only gotten really bad just today.

Maybe update my video/graphics card? I'm gonna have to call on my IT friends for help if I can't figure it out, because it's a complete and total pain in the ass.
